Bloodline: Pureblood
Current Residence: A small wizarding village in Suffolk, England, known as Kerrland. The specific home is the largest in the village, named Whitethorn Manor.
~+Physical Statistics+~
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 135
Hair Color and Style: Long and a bright coppery red. She tends to either wear it down or in pigtails.
Eyes: Pale blue.
Face: Very pale, oval-shaped, and incredibly sweet-looking and open due to her almost constant smile. Pale, straight gingery brows and full lips.
Figure: Clara has a little bit of heft to her because of her unfortunate tendency to stress-eat and her dislike of most strenuous exercise. Still, her figure is generally pretty normal, if a bit generous particularly in the chest area.
Tattoos, Scars, and Distinguishing Features: None really come to mind. When she was young she used to draw a Dark Mark on her arm so she could be like her parents, but she stopped doing that as soon as she realized what it meant.
Jewelry: Clara isn't real concerned with jewelry. She likes the occasional set of bangly bracelets or simple necklace, but she quite enjoys accessories like headbands and scarves.
Clothing Style: Clara loves bright colors and soft fabrics. She loves pretty colors - in her mind she cannot imagine wearing all the time colors like black and brown and gray when instead she could be bursting with yellow and teal and pink. And there's little she likes more than a soft, rich fabric. In her mind, not only does it feel wonderful for her to wear, but it feels comfy for anyone who embraces her. Clothing is one of the few ways where she feels she and her mother can connect, though her mother prefers dark dramatic shades like blood red or deep emerald, while Clara prefers bright or pastels. Still, they enjoy shopping together and can drum up quite a tally.
~+Personality Statistics+~
Interaction: Clara is, generally, the sweetest person you could hope to meet. If someone needs a helping hand or a consoling shoulder, she is always ready to lend it. In fact, by all appearances she is nothing but tenderness and fluff, incapable of something as negative as a pout. It's not the truth, but it's how things seem to appear because of her dedication to show the world the best person she can be - the least like her family name as she can be. In the event of conflict, she does what she can to be as understanding and civil as possible, and if that fails she tries to end the argument rather than let her temper get the better of her and snap at someone.
As a friend, Clara is - well - not all that different than normal, actually. Even to strangers she is sweet and helpful, and generally a welcoming person. She tries to be good to people in general, so her friends might not notice much of a difference. Perhaps the biggest change would just be if she was a bit more open about her real feelings with them, dropping her overly-sunny guard. Her friends can, though, expect a pretty open-minded place to turn, and someone who will dig in her heels if she has to in order to get them any help they need.
Inner Being: By all appearances, Clara seems like the picture Hufflepuff. She's sweet, kind, hard-working, tolerant, patient and loyal - indeed, she doesn't seem to have a mean bone in her body. This, however, is not entirely innate. Clara is painfully aware of not only her family's long history of atrocities in the name of blood purity, but also of her natural talent for the Dark Arts. It frightens her that she could become like them, and she feels terrible for the deeds done in the family name, so she has gone out of her way to be the softest, gentlest soul possible. It's not that it's all an act, per se, so much as that Clara has made a conscious effort of becoming this way. When alone, she tends to indulge in a little more negativity - she'll brood about whatever problem is bothering her, or take out her anger towards someone by locking herself away and doing something artistic rather than the sadistic things she wishes to.
Intelligence: People tend to underestimate Clara, whether from being a Hufflepuff or struggling in some of her classes or just her damnably perky attitude. The truth, however, is that she's not a slouch in the intelligence department. She's generally fairly smart, and just has some blocks that hold her back.
Fears: Herself, with her ability to do as much, if not more, harm than her family. She's also rather frightened by her grandfather Luther, whom she finds eerie and dangerous.
Goals: Rebranding her family name to no longer be one of pureblood prejudice; learning to keep her power in check; improving her grades; growing up to be a Healer.
Good Characteristics: sweet; forgiving; patient; tolerant; hard-working; brave; loyal; noble; honest
Bad Characteristics: innocent; sheltered; stubborn; clingy; bad at keeping secrets; too curious for her own good; blind to loved ones' faults; escapist; addictive personality
Secrets: In bits and pieces, she has experimented with dark magic - it's how she knows she is good at it. She'd be horribly ashamed if someone knew the things she's learned about, though she's never harmed anyone. She also doesn't want her grandfather to know how scary she finds him, as she suspects it would please him.
Likes: animals; cashmere; shopping; comfort foods; sweets; her brother
Dislikes: exercise; trips to Azkaban; bigotry; getting out of control; her grandfather
~+Abilities and Possessions+~
Special Abilities: She can't yet, but she's been trying to learn casting a Patronus. When she does, it will be a swarm of bees.
Magical Strengths: Clara is very good at spells. Her charms are strong, but especially notable is the strength of her curses. Not only do they tend to have dramatic effects, but they also tend to take a lot of time or experience to undo. While this would seem like a good thing, Clara finds it unnerving, and therefore tends to avoid using such spells, afraid of harming people. A less intimidating skill of hers is working with animals, who tend to respond to her gentle manner.
Magical Weaknesses: Divination is pretty much a chance to drink tea, since she has very little talent in it. Astronomy isn't particularly easy for her, either. She's rather out of her depth in Muggle Studies, as well, mostly taking the course simply out of guilt over her family's crimes.
Other Abilities: She couldn't really live in the Muggle world well. She's picked up some things from Muggleborn classmates and Muggle Studies, certainly, but not much has stayed with her. She'd be fairly conspicuous. As for other abilities, she's a decently skilled artist when it comes to drawing and painting.
Wand Properties: Ebony, runespoor fang, inflexible, nine and 3/4 inches
Possessions: Clara has a Hand of Glory that once belonged to her father. She feels somewhat obligated to take with her every year, but it bothers her and she keeps it tucked away at the bottom of her trunk. Which she keeps locked. As if it could come to life and attacks her or something.
~+History and Family Information+~
Family:
Mother: Flannery (nee Travers) Mulciber, 41. A high-level employee of the Department of International Magical Cooperation despite her past crimes as a Death Eater. A highly vain and haughty woman, but she does have a bit of a soft spot for her oddball youngest child.
Father: Valerius Mulciber, 41. Imprisoned. Followed in his father and grandfather's footsteps by joining the Death Eaters, only falling out of active service when Flannery announced she was pregnant with Theo, managing to skate along with Ministry work until caught in the act. Currently imprisoned in Azkaban like his father, getting brief visits with his children.
Older Brother: Theobald "Theo" Mulciber, 21. A surprisingly cheerful and avuncular fellow. Having graduated as a Slytherin prefect a few years ago, he's working his way up in the ranks with ambitions of Minister of Magic. He loves Clara dearly and they're close, though for all his warmth his career comes first. An employee in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, though he has made a point of refusing his mother's help in climbing the ranks.
Older Sister: Talulla Mulciber, 17. A seventh year in Slytherin. Cold and beautiful, with little love for most of her family due to feeling neglected with Theo as the charming eldest and only boy, and Clara as the baby with "special problems." Closest to her paternal grandparents.
Maternal Grandfather: Hector Travers. Dead. Died in Azkaban; Clara never really knew him. Responsible for the murder of the McKinnon family, fighting for the Death Eaters during both of Voldemort's grabs for power.
Maternal Grandmother: Honoria (nee Blevins) Travers, 62. An accomplished potioneer. Flannery being her only daughter, she lavishes attention on her and the grandchildren, and Clara sees her as somewhat of an extra parent.
Paternal Grandfather: Luther Mulciber, 59. Imprisoned. Fought for Voldemort in both wars, his father having been one of the original Death Eaters. Was a Slytherin at Hogwarts, friends with the likes of Severus Snape and Lucius Malfoy, and known for a sadistic sense of humor. An expert in the Imperius Curse.
Paternal Grandmother: Gráinne (nee Sullivan) Mulciber, 60. Once a debutante in pureblood society, she now mostly spends her time desperately grasping at sustaining the life of luxury she once had. This isn't easy, since she has few marketable skills and an imprisoned husband, so she relies on her son's family, much to her daughter-in-law's ire.
Pets: A "blue" (which really means more of a grey color) female rat named Karni. Likes to rest on Clara's shoulders under her hair, and is generally a pretty placid, loving pet unless she thinks Clara is being threatened, in which case she is surprisingly prone to sinking her large teeth into people. Clara's family wave it away as ridiculous, but Clara firmly believes that Karni is much more intelligent than most animals.
History:
Clara Lucasta Mulciber was born in 2004 to Valerius and Flannery Mulciber, the youngest of their three children. The young family lived in large house known as Whitethorn Manor in a small wizarding village in Suffolk known as Kerrland. It was the home of Flannery's parents, the Travers, but with her father Hector imprisoned her mother Honoria had plenty of extra space. Both of the young couple were working in the Ministry of Magic, pulling in a tidy bundle as Honoria looked over the children and worked creating potions. Things had not always been so easy, and would not stay so. The Mulciber family had long been one in service of Voldemort, back to when the Death Eaters were first formed. Clara's great-grandfather was one of Tom Riddle's classmates, and quickly followed him in his pureblood supremecy. In the same vein, when Voldemort launched the first war, both Mulciber and his youngest son, Luther, joined the effort on his side. Also among their numbers was Hector Travers, a young man who had been a few years ahead of Luther in school. Both had been in Slytherin, running with the likes of Malfoy, Snape, Avery, and Rosier.
The results of the first war were rather grim for them. The senior Mulciber was killed in the fighting by Aurors, while Luther and Hector were both imprisoned for their crimes. This was not, however, before both could sire children with their wives, two of them being the same age: Luther's son Valerius and Travers' daughter Flannery. Their fathers imprisoned in Azkaban, both children grew up raised mostly by their mothers. Both went to Hogwarts at around the same time, and were Sorted into Slytherin. It wasn't long before they became friends, somewhat bonding from their similar natures, interests, and backgrounds. Valerius went on to be a prefect while Flannery played as a Chaser on the Quidditch team, and they began dating around their fifth year. They graduated in 1994, coinciding perfectly with the second rise of Lord Voldemort, whom they quickly joined shortly after they wed. Soon enough they were joined by their fathers, who were released in the break-out.
All was going smoothly with them working in the Ministry and as Death Eaters along with their fathers until Flannery broke the news that she was pregnant with their first child. Unwilling to risk her on the frontlines while carrying a baby, Flannery semi-retired from serving Voldemort, moving from actively fighting the Order of the Phoenix and torturing Muggles to doing things behind the scenes. Valerius, meanwhile, gained a high position in Dolores Umbridge's Muggleborn Registration Commission, being directly responsible for the ill turn of fate of many a Muggleborn witch or wizard. That was until Voldemort was defeated by Harry Potter. Valerius and Flannery managed to avoid the widespread death and imprisonment due to Flannery's involvement being well-concealed, and Valerius claiming that he had only been doing his job. Their fathers Hector and Luther were not so lucky, being thrown into jail once more, though one no longer guarded by Dementors.
After the war, the young couple had a short period of peace, making money in the rebuilding Ministry and popping out Theobald, Talulla, and Clara. Within a few years of Clara's birth Theo got to go to Hogwarts, becoming a Slytherin student. During the summer he would come home with all kinds of colorful stories and impressive new skills. Talulla was jealous (Great, one more reason to pay attention to Theo instead of me!), but tiny Clara was enchanted and hung upon his every word, to Theo's delight. This strengthened the bond between the two while leaving Talulla even more out, something their paternal grandmother Gráinne picked up on, lavishing attention on the older girl and quickly winning her affection. Talulla too went to Hogwarts after a few years, also being placed in Slytherin house. While happy at this, she still felt undermined by Theo, who made prefect that year. Clara was perfectly happy for her siblings and eager to go to school, so she started to read anything that she could on magic, hoping to get an early start. As she began learning, however, she started to learn unsettling things. In the village library she read about Voldemort and the Death Eaters, and quickly realized that her own family had been a part of the horrors. Clara had played with non-pureblood children in the village before, and bore no ill will, so the things she learned came off as horrible to her.
Clara became determined to not be like that even as she continued studying, and when it came time for her to go to Hogwarts she was Sorted into Hufflepuff house, to the bafflement of her family. The only one who didn't seem at least somewhat surprised or concerned was the recently graduated Theo, who brushed it off with a shrug and wondered aloud, "How could anyone who knew her not expect that?" Still, it was an embarrassment to Talulla, at least, who actively tried to avoid her little sister the few times the first year tried to acknowledge their being related. It was during that year that Valerius was sent to Azkaban. He'd been working for the Ministry by conducting raids to gather dark items. The problem was that he was keeping some for himself. Blown by that revelation, when Clara returned home that summer, curiosity got the better of her. She explored Whitethorn Manor and managed to uncover some items that her family had successfully hidden from the Ministry raid. Despite herself, she began studying the cursed items and dusty tomes, and realized to her fascination and horror that she had a knack for such items. The experience - not to mention the multiple trips a year to visit her father and grandfather in Azkaban - strengthened her resolve to not be like her family, yet she still often finds herself going to look at the secret collection when home on break.

There are a lot of things someone could do to irritate Rafe Cardozo. He had little patience for lazy people, insults to Hufflepuff house, overly loud pets, and people who walk too slowly in hallways. This was not a man that it was hard to annoy. However, there was a man who actually managed to send Rafe into paroxysms of rage as he had not known since the Ministry of Magic came to collect him from his family’s home.
The man who managed to inspire this truly vein throbbing rage was named Roibin Vespers. Rafe had never met this man before, had no earthly idea who he was, but he did know that he wanted to strangle him so hard his eyes popped right out of his head.
In a rare show, Rafe had a real reason to be angry for once. After all, few people wanted to be roused at five in the morning by having a very large Venomous Tentacula dropped upon them.
Rafe never really liked plants. He could see their use in potions, to be certain, so he had a lot of plant-based ingredients stored around, but he had never really bothered with keeping live ones. He realized that he would really rather just buy the ingredients rather than bothering to grow his own. After getting up close and personal with a very live plant that morning, Rafe felt fairly certain that he had made the right decision.
The sun had not quite finished rising when a truly put-upon owl came barreling through Rafe’s window, entwined by a leafy green plant’s many long, spiky vines. Feathers were coming out everywhere, and the plant was snapping at the owl’s face. Understandably, this impaired the bird’s vision, leading to it dive-bombing onto the sleeping wizard.
Tightly clutching in his hand a card with a frolicking kitten leaping about on the front while the inside were the words Welcome to the Hogwarts staff! I’m sure we’ll be great friends! –Roibin Vespers, Rafe blew through the lock on the door, easily getting into the other man’s room. He stomped through the place until he came upon a sleeping wizard in a bed with some very alarmed animals. Ignoring the hissing of the creatures, Rafe extended his wand and shouted, “You! You’re Roibin Vespers?”
